Sorry to ruin the string of five star reviews, but this guidebook is average at best. The main problem is the fact that the author doesn't provide any maps of all these wonderful places to fish. On the rare occasion that a "roadmap" is supplied, there aren't any roads on it! Telling me to go to another book to get a map is a lot like buying a car, and then being told to go somewhere else to buy my tires. See what I mean?He also bit off a little more than he could chew. Trying to cover fly fishing in three big western states is just not very effective, in my humble opinion.On the plus side he does have a friendly informal writing style that is more entertaining to read than the clinical, technical approach that most guidebooks use. If you do go to the extra effort that will be required to actually find one of these places, he does a nice job of describing what you'll encounter when you get there. Also the quality color photos are nice.All in all, not so bad I guess. Like I've said before, if you want a five star guidebook check out 49 Trout Stream of Southern Colorado by Mark Williams and Chad McPhail. I bought this book specifically for fishing northern New Mexico. It has plenty of information to find those small trout streams, as well as the larger well known streams. Good resource.
